Well I am digging further...got a little more info on it...still confused but basically it controls the seat belt from locking and unlocking I guess and actually gets power fro the battery...weird!

Basically I need to leave it connected...I just gotta move it out of the way!

Do our trucks have pyrotechnics in the seatbelts like a lot of newer vehicles do? Maybe it's for that.

 

That's the rollover unit.

In the event that the truck rolls over on accident, that unit keeps the seat belts locked so you don't fall out of your seat. All trucks have this (but not all of them are in that location) and if it comes loose, you can have problems with your belt's shoulder strap intermittently locking and unlocking.

 

oh you said rollover...so it should be mounted on a flat even surface then? Was gonna side mount it someplace instead...

 

should be mounted fairly flat, or it locks the shoulder belt. you can tilt the black box and see how far b4 it locks the belts

 

Be careful before moving it. If you get in a accident and the investigation reveals that it was movedor modified your insurance or the other guys insurance may just you are out of luck. Your injury could have been prevented if this hadn ot been moved or modified. Just a thought!

its a Seat Belt Control Timer Module for your seatbelts
it provides constant current when the truck is turned off the timer activates for 30 mins then shuts down I know becuse i just spend 3 days tracing down a battery drain if this fails to time out it will drain your battery hope this helps
