Nope, no ballast resistor needed if you just install the coil and/or wires.

Yep, you will also go through the rotor/cap a lot faster.
hmm no ballast resistor... are you saying this after actual use of a MSD coil on a stock ram ignition ?
I mean it's not needed on a car so it can start and run but without one it will go thru cap's and rotors faster than with a MSD ignition. correct?

I yet to use big boy MSD components besides MSD spark plug wires on my 1g DSM but thinker d with the idea on the 454 that sits on my motorhome and a ballast resistor was indeed called for the aplication if a MSD ignition wasn't used along with the coil . I bought a MSD coil and it had a big warning sign saying so.... instead of complicating my exsistance I returned it and bought the stocker for the motorhome, Hell I knew that it woudnt make any or very litle difference if the vehicle is all stock but wanted to try it.

The resistor is needed if you have the older points style ignition systems, which our trucks do not.

Regardless of whether you use the resistor with a points ignition or not so much on one of our trucks, you will go through plugs and cap/rotor faster. Its not really the intensity of the spark that causes the excess wear, its the multiple sparks (instead of just one) that does it.

If you just install the MSD coil and/or performance wires, with no MSD box, the plugs and cap/rotor should not wear any faster than normal.

This wasnt an srt package, and i have a hard time believing that the srt could out perform a zo6 vett, or an srt viper.
