Well I located a dealership and they told me this harness is "unavailable" which does and does not suprise me at this point.

Does NOT supprise me because all the places I have already looked.
DOES supprise me because there are so many of these trucks running around and many of them had this problem.

My wrecking yard is 3 miles from my house and on my trip out there I counted 4 dodge Rams and counted seven on the way back!

You cant swing a dead cat without hitting a Ram yet no wiring harness?

Some good news tho, I told sparky at the dealership that "unavailable" was "unacceptable" when he tried to hang up and go on about his business.

And had him look for me what other possibilities there may be.
And after some searching he found that

Dakotas up to '92
cars from '90 to '95
Full size vans to 2001
And Cherokee and grand cherokees '94 '95 '96
All MAY work with some minor changes.

Our yard does have a full size van and a cherokee, the jeep looks like it might work but I have to run back out there with my torx bits and old switch to find out for sure. I will update.

I generally keep me torx bits close at all times. But good work on running that cross reference down.

 

Wow, you're as badass as that silly Canadian who punched a guy at a shop when he was told something he didn't like.

Just solder the wires to the back of the switch. You are making this way way more difficult then it needs to be.

You're lucky that your junkyards have Rams. There isn't a single 2nd or 3rd Gen Ram in any junkyard in San Diego County.

 

I agree. I previously posted that he should post up pics of what his "fried" harness looks like so we could talk him through R&R.

Funny story:
Last week, I'm at O'Reilly Auto Parts, buying a one-gallon can of brake cleaner. I ran to get something out of the truck, and when I get to the counter, I heard the counterman tell someone on the telephone, "...well, that IDIOT was me, and you told me you had a 6-cylinder, which is why I sold you six spark plugs!"

Turns out the caller was in there earlier to get parts for his vehicle and dealt with said counterman. He called to complain about, "...some idiot there sold me six spark plugs for an eight cylinder".

All of the guys there were laughing, because you-know-who was going to be doing a "walk of shame" to the store.

Chewing out the guy at the parts counter is immature and counterproductive. He does not determine what items are in stock and why certain items aren't.

 

I wish people would understand that Chrysler stopped making these trucks coming up on now what is a decade ago. They've stopped making a lot of the "odd" parts that the vehicles need from time to time. We're now entering the gap of time between production and reproduction that is going to make some of the parts we need harder to find. It's happened with every era of cars. 60's reproduction parts started coming out in the 80's, 70's cars in the 90's. It just takes time.
