Default Creaking noise.

I have a noise that I can't seem to track down, hoping someone here has had something similar, or can point me in the right direction to try to fix it. It's been in the truck since i bought it, which was about 14 months ago now.

Really hear it when you hit bumps. Originally thought it was shocks, but one day, complete stop, it did it. Led me to something with the drive line/engine, thinking bad bearing or something that might be flexed a bit out of position when you hit a bump which makes it creak?

I've been waiting for something to break so I could just fix it, but it's just been a consistent sound, and I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. Exhaust and stereo don't quite drown it out, and I don't have the drive to put the amp in yet..

Any ideas?

(tried searching for an answer, can't seem to stumble across anything quite like this)

Take it to walmart and tell them that you want to grease the truck, it costs you about 4-5 bucks. I had a creak when i would put it in reverse but thats it, i took it to walmart and the problem got fixed.

You didn't supply any information about your vehicle or bicycle or whatever it is you're having the problem on.

Considering that you've told us nothing about the truck, I'm going to say its a bushing.

Every time I think of taking a vehicle to Wally world, I remember the last time my father-in-law got his oil changed there. They use air wrenches on everything, over tighten anything, especially stuff you aren't supposed to over tighten. They just don't care, they don't get paid enough to care.

We tried to change the oil when I was visiting him three thousand miles or so after the Wally change. We ended up completely stripping the drain plug (WITH the right sized wrench, by the way), and were on the verge of breaking it with vice grips before it came loose.

I will not take my truck to Wal Mart, I can easily do anything there they would do.

Sorry about the lack of info, 2001 Ram 1500 4x4 quad cab. 60k original miles. 5.9 auto. Greased up everything last fall trying to eliminate it. At this point leaning towards something like a water pump bearing or something like that, just curious if anyone else has had it happen.

I had the most annoying creaking sound ever and greased everything I could get my hands on to no avail. Then one day, someone told me to double check and lube the heck out of the shifter linkage on the driver's side of the tranny...and the creaking ceased. That was a great day... Don't know if that's the source of your creak, but give it a shot.

Heck anything is worth a shot. Planned on rechecking all the joints again this weekend now that it's warmer out, I'll hit that too.

Totally not worth the time and money. I'm going to guess that your truck is a 4X2 from how low it sits in the front. It's not worth it because 4x2's only have two grease fittings, both of which are in the steering.
