Default Trans Rear End or ???

I was going to the shooting range today and the roads back there are pretty bad with pot holes. I came up to some big ones, slowed down and all of the sudden my truck just stopped. I gave it some gas and went nowhere, looked down at my gauges and my ebreak light came on along with my abs light. I thought maybe it was my rear end so I put it in 4 wheel drive, moved a couple feet when there was a clunk and the truck stopped again and wouldn't move. I put it in neutral when it sounded like my trans was clicking and my speed read 10mph.

I had my tranney rebuilt about 8 months ago and at first thought it went out again. I was talking to my friend and he said pretty much the samething happened when his rear end out and hes had his front and rear ends rebuilt and just got a new tranney.

Well I guess all you have to do is start it up,put it in gear and look to see if the driveshaft is spinning but the truck isn't moving.

It would actually be cheaper for a new trans since I got some extended warranty though the dealer I got the truck. My last trans rebuilt didn't cost a penny since it went out four nights after I got it. I only have to pay $100 whenever it gets worked on (if its covered) and the whole drive train is covered. HOPEFULLY if it is the rear end and the extended warranty company will pay part of the new rear end and I'll have to pay so much, but then again that would be too easy....

The garage said they would look at it today so when I find out what it is, I'll post it. I also told them that I think my drivers side wheel bearing is starting to go (every once in awhile I would hear a metal on metal squeaking unless that was part of the problem that happened yesterday) and I'm still burning oil pretty bad. If I don't go posi all this work shouldn't run me much more than $100+ tax. I'm just glad I didn't listen to my pap and not go with the extended warranty...its already paid for itself.

Yeah, I agree. Under my extended warranty the only work I had done in the 2 years I had it was my fuel pump and my trans rebuild. It cost me 200 for my deductible, but that plus the extra cost of the warranty was much cheaper than the actual cost of the problems.

Also, since its already in the shop and your copay is only $100, I would have them fix any problem that they could find that is covered.

Well I called the garage today and they said it was my rear end. I guess I shattered my center pin and my driver side u joint needs replaced again. He was waiting to hear back from the warranty company to see if they wanted him to rebuilt or get me a used rear end....and now the waiting begins.

Not having a vehicle sucks.

About how many miles is the break in period for a rear end?
