Default Trans Problem HELP

When the truck shifts in to final gear it drops down a couple 100rpms twice. It goes to 2000 then to about 1800 , 1600. Its a 2001 ram 1500 sport. Its like its confused what gear its in. It had a tranny flush and filter 6 months ago.

did you just buy this truck or did this just start to happen. it sounds like it's doing what it's suppost to. Its going into overdrive, unless you turned it off.

Had the truck for 6 months and been doing it from the first day. It sometimes does it in third. And yes overdrive is on. It weird how it drops down a couple hundred rpms a couple times when it shifts in to od. Isnt suppose to be firm up/down shifts. Maybe a trans kit will help

Your feeling O/D kick in then the torque converter locks up.

He's thinking that, with a four speed, he should only feel 3 shifts. I explained that he should feel 4 because the TC lockup feels like another.

Like TMS said, you should feel 4 "shifts"
1-2
2-D
3-O/D
O/D - Torque Converter Lockup

Sounds pretty normal to me. As long as its not slipping or anything I wouldn't worry.

Lets not scold the guy. Maybe he's a busy man. Anyways, you should feel good knowing that you don't have to spend money. If anything, you may want to adjust your TV cable to get a smoother shift.

Yes six months to finally get to this problem. This one was considered the least of my worries. Trying to rebuild a complete front end in a driveway atnight in the cold is a whole job in its self.
