Default 2000 Ram 1500 steering knuckle/spindle

I need help. I am working on this 2000 Ram 1500 4x4. I'm the guy who had the transmission and transfer case both broken in a wreck. Well the driver spindle is broken where the tie rod end attaches. For some reason the book states only 2000-2001 will interchange. Does anyone know the difference of why I could not use a 1994-2001 spindle?

it probably the difference in the brake caliper. early models were smaller, single piston (sucked) and later models were larger, double piston (better).

I don't know if it's the caliper, because there is a 1996 and has dual pistonc calipers.
