Muffler/Exhaust
I've been around the block for awhile now, and I've decieded to put on a new muffler only problem is I can't figure out what to put on my truck. I've thought about a Flowmaster 50 or a Magnaflow XL 3 chamber? I don't want to blow out my ears, but I still want that head turning response when I pull into the parking lot at Wal-Mart. Good DEEP idle with a thoaty sound. Not too much drone like with a race muffler. But still not like a mellow stock exhaust. Any ideas guys?
i have a flowmaster super 44 to replace my stock muffler, thats the only thing ive had changed, all the piping is still stock and all i can say is WOW....the super 44 is nice and deep, doesnt crackel too much but does every once in a while. i can hardly hear it drone inside with the windows up. at highway speeds its no differant from the stocker. its not overly loud because its still a single but it sounds real good to me.
i welded a straigt pipe on my durango and it sounds sick it turns heads its pretty load though but cops dont bother me or anythign but u should go with the flowmaster or put a straigt pipe on....
I like my 40 series. It was a little loud but not too bad until I put the magnaflow cat on. I'd check either it or the 50 series out if you have a stock cat. If you have a high flow cat expect it to be louder.
Dont straight pipe it unless you want to lose all of your engines bottom end power, no backpressure, no power...
I had a super 44 on my rig with nothing else done to the exhaust and it sounded pretty gnarly really

I kind of want to go louder... but need to stay legal. Headers --> magnaflow highflow --> super 44 dual out rear. Im thinking bout cutting the pipes off. Does anyone have a definitive loudest street legal muffler?

the super 44 is definitely right up there because i know guys that have their trucks done illegally and they arent much louder than mine with the 44,if you have seen my pictures my exhaust is cut off and drops out right behind the axle, it gives pretty good sound right there, and personally I like the stealthed out exhaust, it gives a nice clean look to the truck
I'm running a 5.2 with stock manifolds, a completely cat-less y pipe to 3 inch pipe, with a si/do 1 chamber Cherry Bomb Extreme, and it is rediculously loud. If you don't want much of a drone, don't gut the cats. This thing drones and vibrates, and smells like a carburated truck thats runnin rich. Good luck with that though, I had a 50 series on my truck when I got it, and it did have a little drone, but not bad. Never ran the Magnaflow though...
This is the loudest muffler I've ever run, and I think it's street legal.... it seems louder than when it was straight piped.

The Flowmaster 10 series is supposed to be just as loud as straight pipes only with a different tone.
That being said on my Dodge the high flow cat and Flowmaster 40 is about the same if not a little louder than my buddies F-150 with stock cat's and no muffler.
