Default Tip if you're doing any audio work now

Most of you probably know this, but figured I'd post it for anyone who doesn't. New lines of audio equipment for cars/trucks is coming out in the next month or so, so 'last years' models are currently being marked down for liquidation, and you can get some decent deals.

Specifically, if you look at Best Buy, you might want to drive to a second one if it's close enough. They have a program that figures out the clearance price of the equipment using some formula that takes into account current inventory and the rate the store actually has sold the equipment in the last few months. What this ends up with is a vast difference in price, on the same equipment, from one store to the next.

Case in point, last year this time, I wanted to upgrade my head unit to the Alpine IDA-xoo1 for my Ram. I have 3 different Best Buys within 40 minutes of house, so bounced from one to the other to check prices. Store closest to me, 250, 30 minutes away, 320, and finally, literally the other side of town from the store selling it for 320, 90 bucks. (Guess which one i bought) This was new in the box, not a display model or return. Planning on changing this deck out when I redo my system in the coming month or so, and I'll be able to sell the deck on ebay and at least break even.

Same thing is happening now. Currently shopping for what I want to upgrade my system in the Ram, and noticed a dif of $75 on speakers, same set of speakers mind you, among the 3 locations. If you talk to the employees about it, they are annoyed with the program because so many customers get irate when they find out the differences in prices.

Just keep it in mind, might be able to save a few bucks. Especially if you live in a larger city with multiple locations, might be worth the drive to check out across town.
