trans adjust??
Bought my 98 5.2 auto ram 1500 about 6 months ago. Bought from original owner who took amazing care of this truck as well as wrote down everything done to the truck since new with miles and date when done. It had a tranny flush with new fluid at 97,xxx. It now has 117,xxx and the tranny has never slipped, made noises or burnt or used fluid.
My question: The tranny, when not driving like an old lady, tends to shift not hard, but you can deffinately feel it to say the least. I was told that theyre is a way to adjust it to make it feel smoother??? Do I have anything to worry about with the shifting. As said before, its not banging into each gear or anything like that but if i have the radio all the way up I can still feel each time the truck shifts. Im probably just freaking out because of the known tranny problems but it cant hurt to ask. Thanks guys!

Bear in mind ... softer shifts are achieved through slippage ... the clutches and whatnot will wear faster.

thanks, so is what your saying mean that my truck is fine, Its basically preference wheater i feel like feeling the tranny shift or not. I dont want to do anything that will wear it out quicker... thanks
From the assembly line just about all transmissions are set up to shift very soft so that they have a smooth shift for most customers. The thing people don't realize is that the smoother the shift is on your vehicle, the more "slippage" you are receiving. When you don't feel the shift (or feel it minimally) then the truck is essentially in one gear, then grabs the other, THEN releases the first gear.
My truck shifts pretty quick now since I put my shift kit in and all that really changed was how fast this gear change happens. My truck now is in one gear and then almost simultaneously grabs the next one and lets go of the first one. (For all intents and purposes!)
