Regular or quad cab?
12mpg if everything is in good running order. My 1500 gets 13.5-15mpg and it a Regular bed, short cab with lighter axels.
And everyone says it's just cause these trucks were made when gas was cheap, but rumor has it the 4th gen gassers only get about 18mpg tops. Good gas mileage just isn't a dodge thing. Now a 12v cummins turbo diesel... well you're looking at 18-22mpg there. Something to think about.

Its a quad cab.
I am thinking I might pass up that deal.
This is going to be my first vehicle as I am only 16 years old. The truck only has 77K miles and has a new tranny. Good condition also. Figured it would be a good truck for only $4000. The problem now is I dont think I can afford to put gas in it!
Thanks for the quick replys,
Mack

hmm... That is low mileage. Is the tranny new or rebuilt? It's a good truck other than gas mileage. Dana 60s can support some pretty big tires. And a 2500 will fit 33x12.5 tires without lifting the truck at all. Also I was assuming it was an automatic transmission. If it's a 5 speed you can probably do a bit better on mileage.
That would be a hell of a first vehicle.
To be honest most of us with 1500s at one point or another usually end up wishing we had bought 2500s, and if they made 2500s in a regular bed, short cab configuration I would have gone that route.
I don't know what your financial situation is, but unless you're putting on a but load of miles on it it's probably worth it. Think about it.
say gas is 2.00 a gal and the truck has a 26 gallon tank if it's a short bed, a 34 (I think) if it's a long bed. Now if moneys an issue it's never worth filling that thing up the whole way cause that's alot of extra weight, so say you're getting 20 gallons. That's $40. 12mpg that 240 miles. I don't know about everyone else, but I think it's worth it. These trucks are sweet.
