Default Remflex a no-go for me

Well, after a few thousand miles, both of my expensive Remflex header gaskets have blown. The passenger side blew first and then I just noticed another exhaust leak on the driver side (the bitch side) this morning. When the passenger side blew, I took the two Edelbrock gaskets I had and doubled them up on that side. I guess I'm going to have to do the same for the other side as well.

Remflex is supposed to be guaranteed. The only problem is they come off in pieces when you remove them and leave a mess on the exhaust flanges. Has anyone ever got Remflex to stand by their guarantee?

that sucks. i have a set of them in my garage and stage 8 locking bolts for my header install. i hate to hear that. i read in alot of places that people said they were the best. even though i ended up selling the new headers i bought to a guy down the road for a profit. i was still going to get another set.

how many is a few thousand miles to ya? and what headers do you have?

About 2,000 miles. I have the ceramic Edelbrocks.

It could be that I tightened the header bolts too tight and crushed the material too thin, but if I hadn't tightened the bolts like I did, I think they would of backed out. The Remflex might work better with the Stage-8 bolts though.

I've never had any luck with header gaskets over the years . If I can't find a remedy for the problem, I'm just going to put the cast iron manifolds back on.

edel ceramics is the same ones i had, and sold for 20 more bucks then i paid. i was wishing you was going to say some cheap ebay set. usually the flanges on the cheap ones are not as good. which will cause warping. hence a leak. hope you get it figured out. maybe you should try some stage 8's.

here they are. i think i got mine from amazon though, which was alot cheaper.

I have a leak on mine (think it is the driverside colletor) but the gaskets seem to be holding up fine for me. I only hear a "leak" when the engine is under load. I hope it is an exhaust leak and nothing more I say send them back under warrenty and give them another shot. If they fail again... then put your manifolds back on. I used the stage 8 locks and while the inital quality of them didn't impress me... they do, do their job.

I may have spoke to soon on the driver's side Remflex. Went out and listened to it during lunch and it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side donut. May just need a little tightening.

They stand behind there warrenty. I bought mine off ebay and the company wouldn't return my calls. I emailed remflex directly and they shiped me out a new set. Mine were caving into where the spark plugs go if that makes any sense and started to crack.

Yeah, that makes sense. My passenger side was blown out of the #2 flange. What did you do to keep that from happening with your 2nd set?

I've never had a problem with my Remflex gaskets so far. I recommend them.
