hometheaterman, you sure are right that they drink gas like nothing else but they do have a pretty massive amount of torque. and i know that some newer v6's are capable of making more power but at the time of these trucks i dont know of any v6 that made the same hp and tq as a magnum v8. but i dont follow v6's so maybe i'm wrong.
and i agree with ram2k1 that the quality of toyotas and hondas in the 90's especially was exceptional. this is one reason for detroits current downfall or slump in sales. just look at a 90's cavalier etc. wut a POS. personally, i think that the 09 rams are very promising. its amazing how far they came. the new rams have nearly 400 hp get 20 mpg and rides smoother than any other pickup truck probably ever. also they are equipped with nav, backup cam, u name it.

It's official, as of today, I am no longer an owner of a 2nd generation dodge ram pickup truck. This afternoon, my friend bought my truck for $7,000. We spent the day getting him preapproved, and then we did the deal. I signed the title over to him, and made a bill of sales, got him all registered at the town hall, and handed him the keys. So, the truck has been sold, and you guys will now be relieved from the "neon" or "01dodgeram360" antics on this forum from here on forth. Since you guys have been through so much with me cyberly, I will always peek my head in here to see how things are going on. I just wanted to let you guys all know how fantastic it's been communicating with all of you this past year and a half; you all truly are good people. It was just my time to let this truck go. I made the mistake of purchasing this that ram in very poor condition. I put so much time and effort into restoring the body and drivetrain that by the time I finished, I hardly wanted anything to do with it anymore; like a curse. Honestly, I just think my truck is a lemon. And I don't believe it represents the 2nd generation ram, it's a great pickup truck.

As for me, I have a $15,000 loan and $7,000 cash. I also have $2,500 of tax returns. I have some room to play with. It looks like I can get into any kind of '07 vehicle, and some '08s. I'm just really going to take my time becoming familiar with the numbers and values of the vehicles I'm looking for, and I'm going to find the best deal and the best looking truck I can. I'll keep you all updated in doing so!

The only thing I think that sucks about you selling your truck is I'm going to miss talking to you on here. Do you have an email? If you want to pm me as I wouldn't post it here. Or I will pm you mine in case you ever want to stay in touch. Let me know what you end up getting and how you like it.

You should just buy that windstar off your dad for $1500 or whatever and take the seats out when you need to haul stuff.

Put the rest of that money in the bank.

Probably bitter sweet for you I imagine. I know you loved the truck and will miss it, but at the same time it was kinda a headache for you, so that part is finally over. Let us know what you end up getting.

My last bit of advice to you is this: Get what you like, but use as little of the loan as you can to do it. Don't be tempted to get something just because you have a loan that allows you to, it is never worth it in the future, escpecially if something bad happens (like you lose your job, or have other major bills suddenly come up).

Good luck!

From what i have read the tundras also snap a lot of camshafts. I'm not convinced that toyota can make a reliable, long lasting v8. there is no doubt what they can do with 4 and 6cyl though. I'm just tired of people who automatically assume it will last forever no matter what application just because it says toyota. the jury is still out and up till now no one has used a toyota for real pickup truck work. all i'm sayin is dont write off the new rams. or other domestics for that matter.
What the hell? My Dad had two Nissan Hardbodies that rolled 300k miles with just clutches and belts. Toyota used to make a compact 1-ton pickup that was capable of all of the same work as the Big 3's V8 trucks.

I don't know why people cannot realize that you don't need a V8 to "work" with. My neighbor took 12 stumps out of his yard with a Mazda 626.

The fanboys on this forum are unbelievable.

Lmao no they don't. They should produce much more power for their size and number of cylinders. The only thing "massive" these engines is the rate at which the consume fuel. The 4.0 V6 in my Dad's Xterra makes more horsepower and only 26lbs less torque than my 318 does. Not to mention it gets much much MUCH better mileage doing it.

The V8 is nice. Not always a necessity, but nice. They stated that the older Nissan/Toyotas were great, didn't you read the earlier posts? They just aren't sure on the newer ones because they are so new.

Thats their opinions, keep in mind. You can't state yours without some inflammatory statement. And don't give us that "call it as you see it" crap. You do this every time, you're just looking to stir up a fight.
