Looks like 01DodgeRam360 is calling it quits
I don't know when it started/stopped, not a Toyota expert, but I do know if you ever happen to see a T100 around here, it's rotted significantly more then the big 3's trucks. When I see a 2nd gen Ram, they do have rust, similar to mine when it starts, but nothing compared to the T100. I don't believe it's an issue with the newer ones, and I personally haven't noticed the Tacomas having any issues.
EDIT. Looked up Toyota T100's, saw they quit making them in 98, so assuming the issue with body rot died with that gen.

viper, you are an x-terra "fanboy". If you reread my post you will see that i said v6's AT THAT TIME. comparing a 94 v6 to a 94 magnum v8. i know since then there has been a leap in technology. and by real work i dont mean pulling out some tulips with a 6cyl. real work is pulling a 6500 lb+ trailer/boat up a boat ramp. thats why some people need v8's. admit it, a lot of these older reliable 6cyl pickups were not bought for their ability to pull a trailer or do real work. hence they last so long.
I am just going from my experience. Almost no one in my family has chryslers (a month ago my dad bought a challenger). i have had two of these trucks and they have been insanely reliable and i know for a fact they were beat on and not maintained hardly at all (as with a lot of dodges). so i am a fan of these trucks...big deal. i never said that all other brands suck or that these trucks never have problems.

People on this forum love to put words in my mouth, and not back them up.
well take just now for instance. when you said "people on this forum love to put words in my mouth" i got the feeling that you meant me or at least included me. so i cant quote you because you did not directly adress me but did insinuate my involvement.
Hey guys, hope everything is going well!
I wanted to give you all an update with my truck searching endeavors. It's been quite the interesting past couple of weeks I will admit. Frankly, this is my first go around with dealing with car salesman, and they are everything as advertised (no pun intended). I've yet to complete a deal on a newer truck, however, I might be closing in on a deal.
At the moment, I have my eyes set on a 2006 black F-150 with the 5.4L v8. The truck has 31,000 miles. It's sticker price was going for $17,999, but I was able to get it to $16,900. Shortly after my offer, I did a carfax on the truck and saw it's been in a slight fender bender of 2006. So, I called back and told them I'd do $16,500. The salesman just kept hooting and hollering that he was already loosing money at $16,900, but I told him I wouldn't do the deal unless he'd go down considering it's going to have a carfax report on it wherever I go. Well, the company that has this truck also has a sister dealership in my town. So, I called them up and told them of my dealings with their sister dealership. Basically, I'm having the two companies compete. My local Yankee Ford is having the truck taken out of the other Yankee Ford, and they will grant the $16,500. Tomorrow when it gets here, I'm going to spend the day test driving it, and making sure the front end is fine, and examine everything else. I'll keep you all posted!

If it has a carfax blemish, i'd pass on it, especially if it was an accident. That's just my opinion. Even a mild fender bender can result in stuff being bad for the rest of the life of the truck - alignments, possible weakness in suspension/steering components or frame, etc... If it were me, i'd keep looking.
I agree with Silver. You really aren't having two dealerships competing either, if you are dealing with a 'sister' dealership, they will each give you the same price. Of course he's hooting and holering, that's them negotiating.
Want the best deal, find another dealership unaffiliated with the first, and let them fight for your business. With no trade in, check private party too. When I've dealt with dealerships in the past, best luck I've had was when I would reach the point of signing the contract, then back out and say I had a better offer elsewhere. I walked from the dealership and waited for the phone to ring. 12 hours later I had a lower price.

The salesman I originally spoke to this morning is calling my phone incessantly most likely because he knows the Yankee ford down in my area is trying to grab the truck. If it gets down here into my area, I'm going to offer them $16,000. If they won't take it, I'm walking. But first, I need to see the truck and inspect it to make sure everything looks good. I'm going to bring it to my mechanic when I take it for the test drive and get his opinion tomorrow.
