i don't know about the axle.

i also have a posilok. a few months ago i went to use it, and the button wouldn't move. pushed/pulled, nothing. cussed it, nothing. not knowing where the malfunction was i opened up the cad cover. coupler and fork ok, cable not moving.

looked at the cable and discovered it was laying on the exhaust manifold, plastic melted. dammit.

removed cable and started spraying wd40 down the button end. i can't remember if i was able to spray some up the bottom end or not. anyway i kept pushing/pulling/cussing on the button, spraying, pushing/pulling/cussing, and it finally began to move a little. kept spraying and cussing and it eventually broke loose and started working right. i put it all back together and its been working ok since.

You'll require the axles from a 3/4 ton and an assortment of tools. The rear is a bolt-in operation even though the leaves on a 1/2 ton are only 2.5" ... it'll still work. I've read that the driveshafts needs to be shorter so I would check if the 3/4 ton prop shafts will fit. The front axle will be easier if you can get the steering linkage along with it. You'll also need 4 or 5 eight lug rims.

I sure have seen this question pop up here lately. Head on over to pavementsucks.com and do a little searching about 1 ton axle swaps. Theres so much info about it over there that you can read for weeks about it... literally dozens of people who have done it and also done a write up about it.

Heres one of Ramv's write ups... http://www.pavementsucks.com/forums/...ight=axle+swap

If they did, they were early model light duty 3/4 tons ... and probably had a 9 1/4" installed.

I thought the 2500s with the 5.9 V-8s had the 2.5 inch wide leaf springs.

2500's with a 5.9 gas engine have 2.5" wide rear springs.
As far as everything I've read the front axle is a direct bolt in.
I'm not sure about driveshaft lengths and bolt up issues.

RockAuto - 1998 DODGE RAM 2500 PICKUP 5.9L 360cid V8 MFI (Z) : Suspension : Leaf Spring

Rear; 4WD With Less Than 8500 GVW; 2 1/2" Wide, 4/1= 5 Leaf, 2 3/16" Pack Thickness, 2025lb Per Spring Rating

Rear; 4WD Over 8500 GVW; 3" Wide, 3/1= 4 Leaf, 2 1/16" Pack Thickness, 2860lb Per Spring Rating

Again ... light duty 2500's have a 2.5" leaf ... motor is not relevant.
