What airflow? It's a giant dead zone. Air enters and has nowhere to go but slightly out the bottom of the bumper, or up behind the grille. It cannot vent nearly as fast as it can fill.

The bumper's of these trucks are huge huge drag points. Covering the holes would probably make a small difference.

 

I vote for keeping them closer to the back of the hood towards the windshield. Are you planning on making them functional? I personally don't like them if they're for show only. I want to add some kind of scoop to my truck, but for mine, I want it to look like it was supposed to be there, and it has to be FUNCTIONAL. For that reason, I'll probably either never do anything with it, or save for a fiberglass hood that has it built in. Everybody has different tastes, so two thumbs up for you being brave enough to ask for opinions!

 

I agree with the back of the hood idea. My father in law has some on his 3rd gen (came with them when he bought it used) and that's where they are. They don't look too bad.

As far as them being non-functional, who cares? If he likes the way they look, then they're the perfect thing for him. It's just a matter of taste and the style that he's looking for. There's no need to slam him for it.

 

Put them how you want them. You have to see the truck everyday. So it's your taste of where you want them. Looks good.

 

I wasn't slammin' him. He asked for opinions, and I gave him mine, and I was trying to be respectful while doing so. If it didn't seem that way, then I'm sorry. I really wasn't trying to be "one of those" members who likes to put others down. I was offering my own "personal" opinion, as I believe that is what he is looking for. My opinion is only that, an opinion.

I once saw a little ricer car that had 6 of them on the hood, facing both forward and backwards.
