I thought about that, but I use high wattage (100w) fog light bulbs, and had heard horror stories about higher wattage and HID bulbs with plastic housings. Thats why I went the metal and glass route.
Any enclosure that you can use a 100 watt bulb in will easily withstand HID. HID bulbs run about 100 degrees cooler than Halogens. My Hella lamps barely get warm with the HID bulbs inside.
