Default Catalytic Converters in CA omg CA....

Ok, come to find out I need to get my truck smogged next month. I thought it wasn't for another year.. Anyways, I'm trying to find a High Flow catalytic that is legal in California since I gutted my catalytic as it collapsed. I'm having no luck what so ever. I looked on eBay and I couldn't find anything. Someone said the Magnaflow Cats were really good but the only ones I have found are for the B1500's. My pickup is a 98 1500 5.9L, I also probably need to replace some O2 sensors. Any links or pointers would be appreciated. Also what would you recommend for a 14x3 air filter?

I just had my cat (magnaflow) and a turbo muffler done here in sacramento $350 otd. Although I don't think it is a high flow( I know I know but thats what the box off the shelf said). Personally I don't think the gain is worth the cost of those high flow cats. But hey if you have the money. Compared to the stock set up it's the best $350 I've spent in a while.

Oh and I'm new to these fourms So Hello to all.

My eyes popped out of my head when I saw this post. I live in cali, bay area and when my cat went out, I figured cool I'll get a new and better one. I TOOK ME 3 MONTHS TO FIND ONE. THEN ANOTHER MONTH TO GET A GOOD PRICE. Ultimatly, I got a cat for my '97 non EGR ram 1500 at summit for $200. I hate to tell you, but I check the magnaflow website and yours cost around $450. Damn that Goven-nator!!! Start by CALLIN summit and ask. sometimes they'll have it, but since alot of people don't by it, they won't catalog it. Keep me posted. On a side note, Where'd you get the tag Terranova, did you go to that high school?

i dont know what kind of set up you other guys from cali have....but i bought my truck used out here. it came with 3 cats on it. 2 pre-cats (one on each side with the O2 sensors) then there was the 3rd main cat where both sides came into one. i cut that third cat off and ran duals back from the 2 pre cats. its loud as **** and no problems with smog.....it was hard as **** to find somebody willing to mess around with the cat though.

cali sucks for cats & the smog laws... my wifes corolla needed one and we had trouble finding a shop that stocked an approved one for it. in '09 the wonderful legislatures wiped out the approved list and manufacuters had to start again from scratch to get approved ones back in stock.
