Default New To Me Ram

Hello all I am new here to the dodge world. I picked up my first dodge a few days ago and have plans for it. It is a Green 1997 Standard Cab Short Bed 4x4 Auto with the 5.9 magnum. The first thing I am doing is putting a super 44 muffler on the truck. I have one question, how do i break the welds of the stock muffler? I plan on clamping the new one in place of the old. Or do I just cut it out with a sawzall? Suggestions would be a great help. I like this forum it is very helpful.

Thanks,
John

sawzall is usually the easiest and quickest... just one shot right though the pipe... and welcome to the forum good luck

I just took my flowmaster 40 off last week and put a 2.5 inch pipe in it's place. It sounds alot cooler. Cheaper too.

Some of us have muffler requirements!

Saw it off or cut it off from a muffler shop...get a pipe to cover the lost distance and bolt it on...I have no exhaust leak with my bolting it on but I still plan to weld it one all the way.

HAHA don't worry silver ram i made sure to start it without the muffler. It did sounds pretty bad *** but here in mass its illegal to not have one.. But the hack job I had to cut off was embarrassing. The kid welded a smaller pip into the tail pip and then he welded that to the old muffler. I made sure to use my trusty sawzall to take care of that. I got a piece of pip from advance cut it to length and clamped that to the tailpipe and the muffler. I like the sounds of the 44 its got a nice tone and not to loud. I thought it would have been unbearable but it sounds alright. Quiet in the cab to. For a first time job I did it clean and as proffesional as I could, I love my truck.
