Exclamation Tranny Issues?

So...I got a small problem I'd like to catch before it goes big!!! I noticed the other day liquid in my driveway...no prob maybe oil from my last oil change...NOPE!!! Transmission fluid...not tons but at least 8-10 drops...NO!!!

I jump under and notice more than "normal" transmission fluid around the pan and other parts...I am think wtf could be happening?!? The gears shift just fine no problems that I can tell or feel but why is it dripping? Only thing I can think of is the gasket on the pan is going bad?!?!

Any other ideas out there?!?! Pics are posted below to hopefully help someone out with the same or better assumption I have made!!

SORRY IF THE IMAGES ARE TOO LARGE!!!! I did resize from 1024x769 to 600x480! Plus I wanted detail images for those that could help!!!

looks like you need at least to tight up the pans or replace the gasket, but maybe the tranfr cast needs to be tighten up,,,, i just did the same thing on a jeep sunday.llo

yea...but the only reason the transfer case is soaked is from the fluid coming from the pan when he's going down the road. what i would suggest is re-torquing the tranny pan bolts just to see if they have held torque. if not, then obviously thats your problem, if they did hold torque see about replacing the gasket. it definitely looks like its coming from your pan.

You need to replace your gasket. I just replaced mine and make sure, if you do it your self, do not torque the bolts down to tight. If i remember correctly the torque spec. is 13 ft pounds. Good luck

its really just straight forward. If i recall correctly its a 1/2 bolt. Drop the pan. Becarefull cause fluid will swish around everywhere. And dont do it when the truck is warm, cause that tranny fluid is hot! But just drop it, dump the fluid, clean off the magnet that in the pan. Theres two screws holding your Tranny filter, unscrew that, put the new one in. MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN THE OLD GASKET OFF THE PAN REAL GOOD, OR IT WILL NOT SEAL RIGHT!!! and after that put the new gasket on and bolt it back up. and it should take 3.75 - 4 QTs of tranny fluid. I have a 2001 5.9 and it took 4. Good luck

i would suggest getting a haynes manual. you can usually buy them at any auto parts store...it lays everything out in the manual. its well worth the money.

Yea I just checked my haynes...doesn't seem hard...but I need jacks! Or a lift lol! I could squeeze under there but being 250lbs makes it tight! :P

I'd replace the filter and gasket...my auto store said $15 for the kit and whatever for the fluid (ATF-4 right?)
