Default 01 1500 4x4 on way to tranny shop

Started kicking out of overdrive , then trans temp light comes on now has trouble shifting between gears. Have not drove in 6 months. All this at 60,000. Guy seems to know how to fix it. Any up grades I should bring up. I have bugged him to death with questions. just want the most for my $. Best convertor to use. Should I pull out anti drain valve. I pull trailer 4 dune buggy and 4 wheelers. 33/1250 tires do these affect overdrive.

Did you even check to see if there's enough fluid in it?

Throw any codes, and did you change the fluid at all? Seems like 60k is a good time for a filter/fluid change.

Every 15K is best for tranny fluid. Have him install a drain plug in the pan.

So what was wrong with it? It seems much too soon for it to quit already.

Should go in next week if I can convince myself this is the place to do the job. still afraid $1500 estimate will turn into $2500. Have heard others this has happened too. Has anybody ever got a straight answer from a tranny guy. He says dodge convertor falls apart and can plug lines. I had truck scanned at a shop and got solenoid code and overheating at over 385 degrees. when I put my temp gun on pan and on fluid on dipstick it was within operating range. All they say is we can take it apart.

How does the truck drive when shifting manually? If it shifts fine manually shifting, it's probably an electrical issue and not a full rebuild, which I'm assuming is what they are quoting you?

Check the codes, use the key method, post what the odometer tells you. My truck has 62k on it and went through some electrical issues this winter.

I call BS, but unless you do some more troubleshooting, I don't think anyone can help you figure it out.
