Dr Evil Pure Evil Transmission
Hey guys looking for some info, I have a 2000 ram 1500 5.9l, I just got a dr evil pure evil tranny and I installed it and everything went great, all the shift feel good, quick and firm. But the 2nd to 3rd shift it much harder than the rest, and you can really feel it when going slow like through a parking lot or bumper to bumper traffic, when going slow you can also hear the 2nd to 3rd shift as it sounds like it is slaming into gear. When hard on the accelator it still shift too hard and like slams in you just cant hear it. I have been in touch with dr evil and they have been trying to figure out why it would be doing this. They have had me lossen adjuster screw (on the drivers side of the tranny) for the band a little bit and that didnt make a difference so they had me tighten it back up a little bit and still no difference. This might come down to me having to send the tranny back and them figure it out, but I wanted to see what you guys had to say, and get your thoughts. Thanks guys
Well there went that idea. Local tranny shop? Get a ride for a coworker.
dhvaughan - Well I have put more than 300 miles on it already, and still the same

Mine shifts a little harsher from 2nd - 3rd than it does from 1st - 2nd. Mine isn't from Dr. Evil, though. Mine is from APS. Wayne told me that there isn't anything wrong with it... that's the way it was designed to shift. He sent me a part to install to firm up 1st - 2nd to make it act more like the 2nd - 3rd shift, but I haven't installed it yet.
According to Wayne, it has to do something with the shift kit manufacturer making their compromise on how that shift should perform. Some people don't like the extra firm 1st - 2nd shift, where others do, so they made it shift firmer than OEM, but less than the firmness of the 2nd - 3rd shift with the kit.
I would highly suggest contacting Dr. Evil before you do anything! They'll be able to tell you if this is normal or not for that transmission setup. They'll also let you know what your options are for fixing any issues, if there are any, while still keeping your warranty intact.
