I know that there is a TSB on replacing the Pressure Boost Valve Cover with a revised part. Any good write ups on this procedure? I have a PDF manual but the most I can find on this is a diagram of the valve body assembly.

Supposedly there is a hole in the valve cover that is not large enough and causes it to momentarily slip out of OD. In the attached picture, I don't see any hole in the valve cover plate? Can I replace this without dropping the tranny, how easy is it, and where is it?

P1740 code is causing it to fail emissions test, so I need to get this fixed before my registration gets cancelled. Thanks.

All I know is, your pic is of a 42RE , NOT of a 46RE ! Same or not, I'd be looking at a pic for a 46RE. Which a simple search in the FAQ section will yield you.

a new torque converter installed is a $800-$1000 from a dealer.you can get a whole new tranny for $3k wtf? BTW I replaced mine in a weekend with a heavy duty one for about $500.that was about 5 years ago and still going strong!
