Default Ram 1500 catalytic converter

MMMMM K
I was wondering what the exhuast pipe size is that goes from the headers to the catalytic converter.

Im talking about the dual pipes that enter in front of the Cat and yes it is all stock from the manufacture.

Probably either 2 or 2.25" if it's stock...the piece you are talking about is the y-pipe, right?

yes it is called the Y pipe but i dont see why. It is a Y yes but it is part of the Cat.

I am going to get a Magnaflow 10 in Y pipe with dual 2 inch inlets and a single 2.5 inch outlet.

Im going to cut the 2 pipes going from the motor to the Cat off as close to the Cat as possible and throw the Y pipe on and piece together.

That way i can keep the stock o2 sensor placement and the two foot single 2.5 inch pipe will hopefully keep the backpressure at a good level. and i will try the 2 spark plug non fouler trick. if it dont work i have run for 4 hours without the o2 sensor plugged in without a CEL so hopefully itll work if not i dont care if there is a CEL

my old truck had true dual strait pipes from headers back and it had 2 flow through mufflers. It was great. i saw it driving right in front of me a week ago and loved the sound it had so i decided to try do my own without messing with o2 sensors.

it cant be 2.5 inch. The single rear exit is 2.5 but the front y pipe is 2 inch. i just found a site that sells stock replacement parts and it said dual 2 inch inlet and singlw 2.5 inch outlet.

And i found my tape measure and it shows 2 inch outside diameter

Well if you want to just remove it, Summit Racing also sells a Y-pipe without the cats on it. PNPSM-82-1183. It is a 3" dia pipe. Bolts up to either the stock manifolds for shorty headers.

ust looking at the y pipe from summit and from the pic it doesnt show the connector to the headers. The 2 bolts that go from header to the exhaust are not there. so basically i would have to or 2 of them and get them welded on and the ball flange kit is like $100 without welding.
