thanks for everything guys, it seems to be working, lets see for how long, this has happened before and have just engaged it into 4wd and put it back to 2wd and the noise goes away. Now that i have it all cleaned up, maybe the problem has gone away, if not, then my last solution will be the vaccum switch that is attached to the trasfer case. there is nothing else attached other than a vaccum line that has ben coming loose under the engine compartment.
