Default help a ricer make his 5.2 scream! :)

its an 01 5.2 regular cab.

I don't want it to make a ton of noise on idle but at WOT, to quite Homer "I want it to sound like the world is coming to an end."

Not really concerned with performance so a SS catback is probably unnecessary. However, I would like dual(symmetrical, not a dual tip muffler) exhaust, is this biting off more than I can chew?

Is the standard issue Flowmaster 40 my best bet? I tried looking up some videos on Youtube to get an idea of what I'd like but 90% of videos were with the car out of gear which has a very different engine note, so it's hard to gauge.

Thanks for your patience and help, this forum kicks ***.

oh yeah i called meineke(or midas i forget) and they said they could add a single flowmaster 40 for $180 parts and labor, they had them in stock. I asked about doing a dual setup and they said they'd have to source some stuff and call me back.

I had my single 3" custom exhaust done at Meineke. It came to just shy of $400 IIRC because I also had them do a Magnaflow high flow catalytic converter.

If you want loud, you want a Cherrybomb glasspack, Flowmaster 10, or equivalent. The 10 is supposed to be as loud as a straight pipe but with flowmaster sound. Cherrybombs are supposed to be very loud as well.

okay I guess I dont need it that loud, I may have exaggerated.

You know when you hear those trucks at a stoplight and they hit the gas and you just hear that awesome rumble and it sounds kinda smooth at wot because the rumbles are happening too fast?

does that make any sense to anyone but me?

I would say FM 40. That's what I have on my truck right now, and its pretty quiet at idle, but when you step on it, it turns heads.

replace the muffler with the same size pipe as the rest of your exhaust, leave the cats on. fires up real nice, gives a low tone not over kill loud at idle but you can tell the truck isnt stock. and when you hit it bammm it sounds huge. im also from canada and i can get away with that illegal stuff, just dont hit it near a cop. no emision testing here, however that works in the states?

That's what I did. Not that loud, but it sounds like a truck now. Stock catalytic converter does an excellent job as a muffler.
