Cab marker lights

From what i read about cab lights they are for identification to oncoming traffic that the vehicle will be at least 80 inches wide. I have a 2500 with them and the towing option(hitch/wiring). Not sure if all trucks with the tow package got them but it would make sense if you pull a trailer it will put you over 80 inches(depending on the trailer). I also have the three light bar on the tail gate. I like them! It sets me apart from all the others that don't have them. 
I wouldn't put anything other color than amber in them, Just gives johnny law an excuse to brake your stones.
