Unhappy Rear diferential going out need help

Alright so in my other thread i posted a clip of what my pickup sounds like going down the road and everyone says that its definitely dying. So my question is, rather than taking it to the mechanic to put the cheapest product he can find and charge me extra where can I get a rear end replacement and put it on myself with the help of my girlfriends uncle who worked for SJ Denham (dodge and only dodge dealership) for 25 years as the head mechanic. I notice in some of your avatars and posted mods you have eaton differentials. My plan was to go to the 3.90 gear ratio fairly soon anyways so maybe this will be a chance to just replace the whole thing. I'm crossing my fingers and praying that it won't cost me an arm and a leg but if it has to be done it has to be done. Thanks for any info you can give me!

Seems as though there arent any on the car parts website. Anyplace else I can look? How do I find out what my transmission and rear gear multiplier are? Found this website for 4.10's.
http://www.gearvendors.com/ddrive.html Gah maybe I should just take it to the mechanic. I can't figure any of this out lol.
