Default Where is this supposed to be?

Hey guys, went out to 97 Ram today & noticed something hanging underneath. It's a rubber hose around 3 ft. long with a metal fitting on the end. I crawled underneath & followed the hose, leads to the top of my transfer case. Is it a breather/overflow? If so, where is it supposed to be attached?

That's a good question. I have the exact same thing hanging down on mine. I just zip tied it back up to the frame rail for right now until I figure out where the hell its supposed to go.

I have 2 vent hoses that come up by the passenger front wheelwell under the hood. I assume they are the front diff vent and t case vent so thats probably what it is.

Not on mine. There isn't enough hose to reach up that far, and those dont have the metal fitting like that does. Mine is just behind the transfer case right in there with the shift linkage.

hmmm well you're probably right, I just know there are 2 there on mine, I'll have to go out tomorrow and see where they go. Could his be a vacuum line to the diff? I haven't been underneath mine for a while so its a little fuzzy whats down there

Yes, my tranny was rebuilt at 75,000 miles.
Oh say in 2000, maybe 2001?

I think its something along those lines. I have never had an issue out of it, so its not high on my repair list.
