Default Intakes

Hey my names Dave and I was wondering how hard it is to replace the intake gasket on a 95 ram 4x4 w/ the 5.9. I noticed oil in the tb so im guessing that the plenum gasket is leaking. does the distributor have to come off or just the cap and rotor when the intake comes off. i've done intakes on fords and chevys but I havent done one on the 5.9. When I get the old one off should I consider the M1 intake w/ a fastman tb? I've heard a lot of good about the tb but im not to sure about the intake. Any helpfull info would be greatly appreciated.

hey dave... check out this link. inake swap

and this one plenum repair these should have all the info you need.

you don't need to pull the distributor to do the plenum fix. I'd suggest getting a kit from apsprecision and fixing it once and for all... the metal gasket that I have from dodge is leaking and I have this kit ready to go in at home.

M1 is for high rpm motors, you'll loose low end torque unless you get the egr version and install a large turtle (helps minimize the low end loss) if your truck is heavy like mine, not a good idea to do it. a better option is to re-work the beer-barrel intakes runners to move the power up off of idle. do a search over on DTO and you'll find a link that has some pretty good pics on what to do. Sorry I didnt save the link like I should have.

the fastman TB is the only way to go and if it's still running, there is a group buy on DF for it. I saw 1.5~2.0 mpg increase for a short time (before plenum leak) and the power was really good across the entire rpm range. get it!!!
