Default HELP!! Rear end problem, Bad!!

Okay the stud that holds in my pinion shaft, broke. This actually happened four years ago, when after being towed my wheel came off and smshed up my brake drum. So I tried to fix it then, yet the screw had broke, and I couldn't get any removal tool I had, to get it out.

So I closed off the brakeline there, and drove my truck for years with only three brakes.

Well I am about to pull the transmission and I figured I might as well fix the back brake.

Of course to do this I have to remove the gear shafts, and I can't do that until the pinion shaft comes out, and that won't happen to the pin comes out.

The shaft is number 43 in the picture the bolt number 42.

I then tried to drill a bigger hole so I could get a straight shot at the bolt and try and back it out.

Now to be honest, I see no way at all of removing this shaft without cutting open the differential case. I even considered going back to three brakes, from where I stand now it looks like it would be easier to just get another rear end.

It just boggles my mind that there is nothing you can do if this bolt breaks off.

I guess maybe I will get new gears, and maybe posi, since now I have to replace the Differental. There is just no way to get that broken bolt out.

I am thinking about cutting out the red area:

I see it looks as though another screw could be drilled on the other side.

I wish we had decent junkyards around here, because I would just go to one.
