Default 305-70-16 tires on a stock 2000 4x4?

Hi guys

First I want to thank you all for taking the time to post up your pictures and respond to my tires questions.

As a previous member of the ford ranger forum I know we get tired of answering the same tire questiones over and over again.

But please be known that is so helpful to new people. I never owned a dodge before and I thank you for taking the time to respond....

That being said.... Im looking at Mickey Thompson baja claw tires because I love the tread and own some on my old ranger. \

I cant find any 285/75/16s at summit racing.com I did find some 305/70/16's though. I wanted a slightly wider tire but need to know if they will clear the front end in stock configuration. My truck is the 4x4 not sport.

Yes a tad bit of rubbing on the swaybar is ok - Ill fix that. Do any of you see a problem with that size? Any of you have that on your rig?

Now the 70 part in the tire size mean that if i use that instead of the 75 I can expect the tire to be a tad wider correct?

Thx and this will be my last noob question lol

Do you have the off road package on your Ram or just the 4x4 version? I don't think you are fitting them without the offroad package and maybe not with it. I have read reports of people saying you can fit 33" tires on a stock Ram which the 305/70 is basically a 33"x12 tire but I don't think you would be able to fit them on a stock truck here is why. I have a 01 Ram 4x4 with the offroad package which is supposed to be 2" higher than the normal Ram and then I also have a 3" Skyjacker lift on top of that and am running 305/70R16's they arnt on the stock wheel so maybe that has something to do with it but they don't have much room they don't rub but they look like they would if it was an inch or two lower. I am running BFG Mud Terrains so also don't know about the Mickey Thompson Baja Claw's. I just don't think they would fit without a lift they would rub but it may be something you could fix. The wheels I have also seem to extend them a out a little further than stock so that may be why. They look fine when straight but when turned there is probably only half an inch or maybe an inch but I don't think so before they would rub.

Very good points

I ran the numbers here and a 285/75/16 is 32.8x11.2

a 305/70/16 is a 32.8x12 that is damn close i think.

Anyone else have a 305/70/16

Im gonna get under there are measure like crazy before I plop down the 800 bucks

thx

go to pavementsucks.com and search for tire sizes... I'm sure it's been covered over there and it wont fit without rubbing. I have 285's that didn't rub on stock tires but were damn close. I test drove a ram with 285's that did rub. depends on the rim.
