Default no oil pressure in reverse

I have a 97 dodge ram with the 360 motor and when ever it is idlein low and in reverse i have little to no oil pressure aquiding to the guide. The motor dose have plenty of oil in it. And so for the temp guide has not gone past 230. Any ideas on wht the problem might be?

It as nothing to do with it being in reverse, it's just the idle is low, it's pretty normal. How many miles on the motor? Does it do the same thing before it's warmed up?

If you have not owned it since it was new, then there is no telling what kind of maintenance/abuse the motor has taken. If the oil pressure drops after warm up, that would indicate you have some bad clearances as far as bearings go.

I have a similar problem with the oil pressure dropping at idle after it's been warmed up for 10-14 minutes. Even though the motor is rebuilt and has 30k miles on it, I had some coolant in the oil from a blown head gasket and that probably messed up my bearing clearances because it's doing what zman17 says. I'll let you know if I find a solution.
