Default air temperature changes

I have a 1999 Ram 1500 club cab.
Can anyone tell me why air coming out of my air ducts changes from cold to hot.....I am using the air conditioning and the **** is set to the cold setting.....
The air temperature changes as if you were turning the temperature setting control from cold to warm and then back to cold.
It keeps doing this
Thanks for your help

It might need to be recharged? I'm not sure.

IIRC, a vacuum leak could cause that. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

My '99 has a servo motor for the blend door, so vacuum doesn't affect the temp... just where the air comes out. Can you hear any whirring coming from the servo for the blend door? On mine it's close to the center on the passenger side (under dash) and if you listen closely you can hear it whirring when changing the temp. Maybe the servo is flaking out.

You have identified my problem. Is this something I can fix without taking off the dash? I am new at this forum thing. I sent you a response some other way...then I saw this method so am trying it as well. Thanks for identifying the problem. I just don't know if I can fix it without removing the dash.

sounds like your compressor is on its last leg. Use an engine stethoscope on the compressor to see if you can hear it cycle through. The clutch on it could be going bad too.

I now know it is the blend door that is flopping over to send warm air when running the AC then the door will swing back over to allow the cold air to flow in the cab. This entire process happens over and over when using my AC. What is allowing the blend door to flop over to send warm air and why does it then slowly swing back to allow cold air through the ducts? Do I need to pull the dash to fix this problem? Could this be a vacuum leak in the engine compartment or under the dash without removing the dash?
Thanks for any input.
