that big nut really sucks. the socket cost be $25.
here you go... http://www.pavementsucks.com/tech/hub.php

just by the way - they're u-joints, not cv-joints.
cv-joints are on little front wheel drive cars and maybe 3rd gen IFS front ends.

Welcome to the forums! Your only about 25 miles away from me.

Anyway, make sure when you re-install the nuts that you properly torque them (175-180 ft. lbs.), otherwise failure can occur with the hub bearing.

i can already tell you autozone doesn't have one to rent nor buy. neither does advance. you'll have to either order the socket online, or go to sears, or the expensive parts store in your town, or a specialty tool shop. it might also be 3/4" drive so you'll need either a 3/4 drive or an adapter to your 1/2".

i used the big boy 3/4" drive impact wrench on the SOB and it came right off.

here's a good one. mine's deep well, but i think shallow would work ok. anybody know if it won't ?
beware of cheapo chinese crap. 185# of torque is a lot.

I just had mine done it was 630 for them and my truck to get inspected and emissions. My mechanic said it was a bitch to get them out. He had the old ones in the shop all of the needle bearings where falling out. He picked one of the caps up and smacked it on the bench and they all fell out. The truck was in the shop for 1.5 days as well.
