Default Lift laws/gvwr???

I have been thinking of jacking up my truck 3" or 5". I plan on doing the gear for randys ring and pinion. I'm think I'm going to get 4.56's and rear locker. (4.10 and 4.56 are the same price) I will be running 33". I found this (http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/06...5/s175.78.html) so how much dose my trucks weight? How much lift do you think I can get away with? I plan to call the guy that inspects my truck to see what he says on the lift. I have been looking at top guns customz lifts. Any thing else to be aware of????

I have an 01 1500 4x4 5.9 with tow package.

i just put a lift in my 01 ram. up here in MN the law states that you can lift the truck 6" above stock suspenion hight. bumper hight here doesnt matter untill you get upto a 1 ton truck. 1/2 and 3/4 ton dont have a bumper hight.

In Pennsylvania I believe the law is that the bottom of the rear bumper has to be within 30" of the ground or lower. So you can get away with about 7" of lift. Well 10" If you get a 3" body lift and don't move the bumper up. But it would look silly.

456's might be a bit steep if your gona stick with the 33's.. if you go with the 5" lift you could fit 35's and the 456's would be mint.

I think he's making the right call on the 4.56 gears. They'll kick *** with 33s, and you can run 35s with no problems. But if he got 4.10s and decided to go to 35s later he'd probably end up wanting to re-gear again. And that ain't no cheap thing. Lower gears are always more fun anyway.

I plan or 4.56's no matter what size tires I will be running 4.88's are to tall. So I could do a 5" lift. But I want 3" until I get stuck than I'll be kicking my self in the *** for not getting 5".

Lift isn't going to effect you getting stuck (unless you get high centered). You might kick yourself for getting 33s instead of 35s, or for not getting lockers, but not lift.
