OK, I would like to add to some questions in this post.

Now that I have read about death flash, I am pretty sure my truck has it. Its a 2000 model with a hand writen computer update sticker on the PCM (or whatever it is).

Question is, if I want to get rid of this death flash thing (which it sounds like it would be well worth the money, and I have already done the hughes kit), what exactly do I do besides get a tuner? Just plug it in and let it do its magic? Do I have to get a certain one for this "repair"? I am ignorant when it comes to these tuners... never purchased or dealt with one before.

All you need is a Hypertech or SuperChips tuner and let it do it's magic. If you plan on doing some major mods, you might consider an SCT tuner.

I'll answer as best I can from the research I've done this a.m. after discovering I'm a death flash victim as well...lol. Others will surely chime in with more.

Seems you have 3 main choices...Hypertech, Superchip, or SCT. Seems SCT is the 'best' if you have more performance upgrades, but it's about $600. Superchips seems to be the consensus for the 'lower' tier programmers. I just bought the Superchip 3815 on ebay this a.m. for $250.

From what I've read on the programmers, it is just plug in and follow directions.

lol...I hope so. Man this site is costing me money lately. After reading on how to test shocks, figured mine were bad, and replaced them yesterday to find out factory's weren't really that bad. Wake up this morning thinking I was done for now on my truck, to discover I have death flash. Thinking I should already start planning my plenum gasket upgrade.

Just saw a thread on body lean on this gen, now I don't want to go outside for fear of discovering I have that...lol

Suspension lean is the least of things to worry about on these trucks, as you have discovered,

i actually went out to my truck to see if i had this...and couldn't find a sticker anywhere. none on the pcm, nothing on the radiator support, no stickers whatsoever(except the usual ones). it's a '95, hopefully i don't have it. any other way to tell?

It's a 95. You don't have it. Besides the stickers would be obvious.

Why cant you just take it to the dealer and have it re-flashed?
