Default In-Dash Video?

Hey guys i have been doing some research on in-dash video head units. I was wondering if anyone was using a flip out with the 1st version of our dash. I'm afraid if i get one it will flip up and out and i cant use the cup holders. I could get a double-din and it will fit right in right? Pics would be cool

Double din won't fit, will be too tall for the factory opening. I've seen custom jobs to put them in, but honestly wasn't really blown away by them. I just don't think a double looks quite right in our gen.

Friends got a flip out video in his 96 3500 with the first style dash , he doesnt tend to use cup holders since it blocks it , but its a nice unit that flips back down if u need to use ur cupholder.

Good luck whatever you try to do. I wanted a double din in my Ram but didn't care for the look of a full size in the dash. Thought of the flip up type unit, but after talking to sales reps, decided against it. They don't do good with bumps/movement, and thought long term I'd have issues with a truck suspension.

Only thought I had that might have worked would be to build a console of some sort and sink it in there. Look at this link for a console Endisnear built and picture a double din in the upper part of it.

Outside of that not sure what you could do. I gave up for now...lol

yea thats a pretty sweet build but i dont want to loose the leg room for the center seat. I dont really have anyone sit there but there is always a chance. I don't do any kind of terrain or trail riding so other than normal everyday bumps that would be all. I think i might see if i cant custom build some cup holders that are attached to the arm rest and can flip up with it or something. Just brain storming right now. I just want a Nav system with the abilities to show Dvds but still have my normal necessities. I know im going to have to sacrifice something

Lookie what i found

From the looks of it, it slides on the end of your arm rest or under it. Either way looks like a winner! I'm going to keep it in mind.

Edit:
Here is a better look. It does slide over the end of the arm rest and you lock it in by closing your arm rest. I'm going to get it. Hope it helps anyone if they are having the same issues.

Was going to say, if cupholders is your only concern, go to www.genosgarage.com. They sell those there.
