I put a leveling kit on my 01 about a month ago. I got a Hell Bent Steel 2" kit and it was an easy install. Even after dropping the sway bar I still had to rent spring compressors from Advanced (got every penny back when I returned it so that was great). Here's some before and after pics of my truck and I'm very happy with the result.
If you unbolt the stabilizer bar links, you shouldn't need to compress the springs.
I unbolted the sway bar and it did drop lower, but the spring wouldn't go into the pearch without some persuasion. I had to compress about 1/4" or so, so it wasn't that bad.
how come you had to drop the sway bar when I put my Hell Bent Steel kit on I did not drop the sway arm or use a spring compresser
I think part of my problem was the truck started out being jacked up real high... but the jack stands kind of sunk in my driveway a bit. I bet i wouldn't have had a problem at all had that not of happened
