Questions on transmission work?
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 sport with the off-road package. I want to do a little bit of work to the transmission, just in an effort to keep it going longer. I purchased a B&M Transpak shift kit, and would like to install that. However i am uncertain of how to properly remove the valve body. I am quite handy on vehicles and am currently going to school to be a diesel technician, so if anyone could give me any pointers or pictures on how to properly remove the valve body and install the shift kit that would be great!
Also i was wondering about band adjustments on the transmission? How do you go about adjusting the bands? i heard there is an adjustment for a set of front bands and a set of rear bands?
And finally, i've heard about a check valve in the transmission cooler lines. I've heard that it is recommended to remove that for more flow? Where is that located? and is that a good idea to remove?
Thanks for any help that anyone can give me! Its greatly appreciated!

That is probably something you should get if you don't already have it. 2001 factory manual, will answer everything you just asked. As far as dropping the valve body, not too difficult, I dropped mine this winter to change sensors. If you want to improve the trans life span, do a forum search for check valve delete and do it with your tranny work.

All that is involved to dropping the valve body is removing about a dozen (12mm?) bolts, disconnecting an electrical connector and disconnecting the parking rod (held on by a "c" clip).
Like mentioned above, you can read the service manual or search the forums for how to do the other things.
