Default tranny slipping?

Under low acceleration when the rpm's are lower when my tranny shifts from 1st to 2nd it kinda kicks a couple of times before 2nd gear actually engages. the whole truck actually jerks a bit. for moderate acceleration to w.o.t. i dont have this problem at all. it just shifts and grabs real good. anyone know whats goin on?

ive checked the fluid. its actually a little over full which ive read in places that i can cause problems and in other places that its not a problem so im not really sure about that. my buddys dad owns a tranny shop so im going to take it to him and see if he can figure it out but that might not be till the end of the summer since im going to have him flush it before i head to college.

mine did the same thing, low governor pressure from a clogged governor selenoid caused it. mine had a clogged governor selenoid (filled with clutch dust), broken accumulator spring, rear sprag was bad and the rear band was dragging and digging in. take it to a tranny shop that does free diagnostics and have them drive it while checking the governor pressure. the scan tool shows desired and actual pressure and if it shows the actual pressure to be about half of desired then it is more than likely the governor selenoid. could be broken accumulator springs though. i think you can get the accumulator springs out without having to take the valve body off.

the scan tool plugs into the obdII plug, not the tranny. the selenoid is like 80 and the sensor is about 70, if you look around you can find them for that, but average price from what i've seen on here is anywhere from 150 to 250 for both. the accumulator springs are just a couple bucks and they break often in rams.

My truck had the opposite problem directly after I rebuilt the trans. The shift from 1-2 was perfect under low acceleration but under heavy or WOT it would slip a couple times and then grab 2nd.

I replaced the Governor Pressure Sensor and Solenoids and haven't had a problem since. Now, actually with my Transgo TFOD-JR shift kit it really snaps right into 2nd every time. I love it now!
