I know I've read posts relating to this but I couldn't find them with a search. I get a air noise under moderate acceleration until the engine rpm catches up with throttle position. It almost sounds like a turbo charger or an air leak or maybe even the fuel just pissin' down the intake (we all know it does that) . I would think any kind of air leak would give a check eng lite but I thought I read about something leaking before the intake manifold. Does anybody know the noise I'm talking about ? What the $#&* is it and how to fix ?

Pull you airbox on your TB should be a gasket sitting on top of TB-probably gone, I had the same problem and replaced it 1.99 Autozone and now its completely gone, some people had me ready to tear my top end off, but with the plenum gasket you will have other symptoms, popping etc etc,

 

I don't know how to fix it but I have it too and have been wondering the same things as you... if you've learned anything about this please let me know... it's driving me crazy

 

What is a TB? I'm sorry but I am new to all this and need to try to understand all this

 

If you pull the airbox on top of what used to be called a carb you will be able to put a gasket on top of there, flat against the top of the Throttle Body TB and then the put the box back on.....If thats hard to follow just go to Autozone and they will replace it for you

You might want to check and make sure there isn't a snake in there. They like the heat and whenever you rev up the engine it freaks them out and they start hissing like crazy!

while your in there, take a torque wrench to the throttle body mounting bolts and make sure they're still torqued down to the proper spec. if you don't have a torque wrench, open end wrench tight will work just the same... just don't go HULK on it.

 

Well I finally got a chance to pop open the hood. It looks like someone didn't close the airbox correctly not to mention the clamp was a bit loose however now that its all back together correctly I still get just a small hiss under moderate acceleration. Its much better than it was but should it be totally quiet ?
