Oh yes, a problem.
I was [am] having shifting surge problems and occasional slips.
I had a whole slew of things wrong in the first place though, including using the wrong ATF [it had dexron in it] and a busted trans mount, probably caused by a busted motor mount.
So I fixed the motor/trans mounts, put ATF +4 in, swapped the govenor sensors and the TPS for good measure, now it shifts much better and is close to normal.
I am thinking the throttle to trans cable probably needs adjusting after all of that, hopefully I'll be good to go after that.

But those tranny sensors are the cause of alot of grief, from what I have read, and changing them often cures peoples problems.
Whether or not they are part of my improved shifting, I'm glad I changed them, since they are a failure prone part, and they've been in there 7 years that I know of, maybe longer.

^^ There's a TSB for a repair to the solenoid harness(?) where the constant vibration of driving causes the insulation of the wiring to chafe, causing a short/ground against the trans body.

Yeah, I recall reading a thread about a guy who solved his problems repairing that chaffed internal wire.
Didn't know there was a TSB about it, in any case mine looked visibly fine.

Invaluable info thanks ever so much. New dodge owner seeking possible answers to problems that will hopefully never arise.

Alot of tranny info on this forum can be considered preemptive, for those who don't have tranny problems, its likely a matter of time until you do ,,, And not everything calls for expensive rebuilds.
So its good to keep info about sensors and minor adjustments in mind, against the day when you might be needing them.

If you are currently enjoying trouble free trans operation, one of the best preventive measures to keep it that way is to get rid of the check valve, highly recommended procedure.

OK, I just got done dropping my pan and cussing out this DIY. Exactly WHICH solenoid is this? It is the Torque Converter Lockup Solenoid? I need specifics and the parts stores and other sites aren't too descriptive.

This is what I have. Is this the correct part? I'm not sure how that large connector comes out and don't want to tear half of the transmission to pieces in order to discover I'm wrong. Details are helpful.

Very useful write up +1. Hopefully never have to use it, but always good to take the mystery out of trannys.

I bought Borg Warner Part Number 59854. I has a large plug that loops up into the transmission. Those two sensors referenced in the start of this thread looks like they plug into the part I bought. That's what has me confused. Exactly *what* is the solenoid referenced? Is it the TCC?
