Default noise in rear end(truck related)

heres one...
when i hit a bump i get a clunk that seems to be coming from the left rear of truck.i had a friend push/pull bed side to side while i looked under there and i believe its coming from the left wheel.sounds like the drum is loose.i just rotated the tires so i know the wheel is tight.if i engage emergency brake, the noise wont...well,make noise.what would cause the drum to be loose?it just slides on and off after the wheel is removed right?i checked the rear shocks and they seem to be tight,as well as the leaf spring bushings.im thinkin this has to be it.noise only from left, nothing from the right.which leads me to believe theres something worn in there.
any thoughts?
thanx
