Default Changing Plenum

How many of you guys have had to change your plenum due to leaks or other reasons? Did you notice any difference in anything before and after?

Trying to figure out reasons as to why my truck is slow. When the truck was in the shop last week the guy said it's going to need a tune up soon, but I didn't ask him what he meant by that, I'm assuming plugs, wires, (dist cap, rotor?). What would changing these components do for me? The plugs aren't that old, probably about 2 years, but the other stuff I never touched since I got the truck about 4 years ago.

If there is ANY hint of pinging, does this mean power is being lost somewhere?

Do a search on here for plenum gasket. It is a major problem with these trucks and your cat is bad or not far behind if the plenum is bad. And the plenum being bad will cause a ping.

A lot of people say that after they replaced their blown plenum gasket they got more power back out of their engines. It makes sense since the blown gasket essentially makes a vacuum leak into your engine.

I haven't had the chance yet to replace mine, i'm still working on getting off my lazy @$$ and doing a compression test to check for blown head gaskets. If they are blown then I have to tear into the plenum anyways.
