Default 2001 Ram 1500 Hypertech Power Programmer 3

I have a 2001 Ram 1500 4x4 5.9 with a K&N intake, Magnaflow exhaust, and a Hypertech Power Programmer 3. When I programmed the truck with the Hypertech the check engine light came on with the code P0601. Every time I would clear it, it would return after I restart the truck. I've replaced the PCM and reprogrammed it again only to have the same problem. When I called Hypertech the guy told me it has to be a wiring problem with my truck. PLEASE HELP!!!

Welcome to the forum!

How long have you had the Hypertech? I'd try getting it replaced under warranty if not very long.

Something is frying your PCMs. If it didn't do it before the Hypertech tuning, and does it after, its the Hypertech or something related to flashing the PCM inbetween the OBD II port and the PCM (wiring).

I'd try the easiest and most obvious first though, like replacing the Hypertech. After you detune the PCM, does the code go away? If not, or if you can't detune due to the code or it gives you an error, than your "new" PCM needs to be replaced (again).

I've had the programmer for a while so they won't replace it. Whenever I plugin the programmer it displays the error and it clears. But as soon as I begin programming it usually reappears. I know I'm going to have to replace the PCM again, but I'd really like to figure out what is causing the problem. I guess it most likely is the programmer though.
