97 ram 2500 axles
Hi folks,
Just picked up my first ram..it is a 97 2500 quad cab, lwb. Only owned chevy's to this point and only old chevy's. Some friends think I've downgraded myself but I disagree!
Anyways, I'm trying to figure out what I have for axles in this rig. I'm pretty sure it's a D60 on the front and I thought it was a D80 on the back but now I'm not so sure. This truck has a gvwr of 8800lbs., which I think is the HD version. Not sure about that though....does anyone know if there's a heavier 2500. I understand that Dodge built the 2500 in 2 different gvwrs.
How do I find out what axle I have in the rear?
And, can I put a manual hub assembly in the front end of this rig?
Anyways, I'm sure you'll be hearing more questions from me as I'm new to Dodge.
Thanks!

gas trucks got a D60 front and rear, diesels could be either D70 or D80.
you can put a manual hub conversion on the front, but they are a little pricy.

These are the only options i know of.
