Wow, sounds like either lifters tapping or injectors pulsing. You could try pulling the connectors on the suspected cylinders while it is running to see if it is the injectors. It will throw a code but is no big deal. If the sound goes away then could be faulty injectors.

OK i have a snap on scanner i did an injector kill test on each injector.
to help the engine has 230.000 miles. just replaced just as in last week the timing Chain and Pentium plat. the tapping was there before changing these parts.

There was a slight drop in the sound with killing 1,2,3
nothing on the other 5 cylinders.

I will be trying the disconnecting the injectors in the morning.

So this is pointing to injectors?

Very possible. I have seen many different makes and models of vehicles that the injectors do this on. It doesn't necessarily mean the injectors are bad but they may be dirty. You could try running a can of seafoam through the fuel tank and see if that helps. Otherwise if it is the injectors making the noise for sure and you can live with it just do that. The seafoam might help that though.

My injectors do that. It got a lot louder the day I ripped off the sagging under-hood insulation. It seems to cause no real problems. I should pull the fuel rails again and clean them, just haven't gotten around to it.

In my experience, 92 to 01 Magnum engines are notorious for having one or several valves tick. Since the noise is louder on one side than the other, and the engine has high miles, I think it is more likely valves and not injectors, but I am becoming notorious for being wrong.
