What do you think of Tuff Country lift kits??
Im looking to get a lil lift, the one im looking at is only 416.00, http://www.4-wheel-drive-lift-kits.c...-lift-kit.html
seems cheap enough, but hows the quality of these setups? I already have Rancho RSX 8000s all the way around too. Anyone have better ideas, maby something better cheaper? Not sure, new to the lifts, I dont really need it, but it will look so good with one, and the 285s fit fine, dont rub, but i think with some articulation, i would definitely be all up in the fenderwells. Id rather not cut them out, but whatev. Another thing. When i put my truck on my lift, the springs damn near fall out! They just sit in there loose and i can spin em, and damn near pull em out. Im guessing that shouldnt be the case. Where do i get springs from? Is that something i should get with a lift kit since im guessing they are shot, instead of replacing them with stock springs and getting a lift with spring spacers? In LMC they are one hundy each i think, so not sure where to go exactly from here.....Oh yeah, ladder bars. What do they do? Do they replace all the bs steering crap?

From that listing:
This lift kit will not fit the Off Road models. Please verify your truck is not an Off Road model before ordering.
This product is designed for the following models:
Ram 1500 4x4
WTF?

an offroad model came with a factory 2" block and i think a taller front spring.
A ladder bar is a great idea for anyone who is using a tall block. it wil tie the rear axle housing to the frame and prevent it from twisting under high torque situations. if you dont use one, you will "wrap" the springs under hard acceleration or towing.

Hmmm.... Not exactly sure about the rear blocks. The ole ladys out runnin around with it right now, but im outta cigs and i told her to stop back to drop em off. When she gets here i will check on the size of those blocks. The RSXs I have should work, they were a bitch to get in because i had to put the tops in first to compress it and slide the bottoms in.(because they were so much longer than stock) I really wish i had a good urethane bushing kit for EVERYTHING. all of the front end rubber **** is just mush and wore out.
http://www.topguncustomz.com/Store/products.php?S_ID=56 And if u can find them one ebay u can make offers on there lift kits.

I used to work at Les Schwab, and we carried Tuff Country lifts. They are definitely a budget lift. As I recall, he Dodge lift uses a spacer on the front, and blocks in the rear. Hence, the Off Road truck, which already has the spacers, won't take the lift - can't double up on spacers.
I installed a 2" lift on a Jeep Cherokee, the kit just had taller front springs, blocks for the rear, and new trailing arms that were the same size as stock, but were tubular and had a cool sticker on them. The shocks had to be purchased seperately. It was another employees, so he at least got it for cost, not retail price.

Lunistratus: I an not a fan of the Tuff country lift because they changed thier design and when to those skinny weak looking tubular links.
Oh my... I must say I have never seen a factory off road truck with spacers. I have heard rumors of dealers installing spacers, but again the offroads I have worked on (or scavenged parts off of) never had them. The reason you don't get the lift on an off road is because the 3 inch lift is measured from a stock ram. Since you already have higher rate springs on an offroad, you actualy only lift it about an inch or two over a standard ram WITH A 3 INCH LIFT INSTALLED...BUT you actually net about 4.5 inches of total lift over a stock ram. An off road ram with a 3 inch lift looks huge next to a standard ram with the same lift due to the higher (not taller) rate springs in the off road.
You might question that, but my (non off road) ram has off road spring packs in the rear with a 3 inch BDS AAL, and a 3 inch Rough Country lift with off road coils in the front. I had originally put the off road coils in with 2 inch spacers but didn't like the nose down look with the new rear springs. So I installed the the 3 inch spacers and longer arms.
