Bad seal on left-front hub assembly
Hi guys, we have a 1995 4x4 Dodge ram 1500, but it's got a leak coming from a seal. The problem is, we don't know the tool we need. Haynes says to take it to a "prfessional" (???don't mechanics learn this stuff from the manual???), and chilton just says a bunch of numbers, not a tool. Anyway, if somone could give me a name of that tool, or a website that would give better manuals (or if possible a free one online), that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
If you have a leak from your hub, it's probably better to install a new hub. They're $180 at checkers and you'll also need a 9/16 star socket to get the hub off. There's three bolts on the back of the hub to unscrew and then just pry the hub off and replace it with the new one. It's actually a pretty quick fix.
I am not sure if it is Just the hub or the whole assembly. Call and see which your truck is. If it is the assembly, you can replace it your self, if it is just the hub, you can still do it yourself, but are going to need to have the hub pressed out and the new one pressed in by a machine shop.
